Introduction

Revision Rhinoplasty

Plastic surgery is a big decision, and should only be chosen to benefit your own needs. For people who have undergone a nose job, or Rhinoplasty, and are dissatisfied with the results, a secondary surgery, called Revision Rhinoplasty is often sought out.

Revision Rhinoplasty can fix the problems you experience from your first surgery, while also aiding in optimal function of the nose. There are patients who may experience severe complications or ineffective solutions from the first rhinoplasty procedure, which revision rhinoplasty can effectively address. If you are looking to correct the issues from a rhinoplasty procedure with Revision Rhinoplasty, you have made the right choice in Dr. Jason Cohn, an AAFPRS fellowship-trained facial plastic reconstructive surgeon.

Dr. Cohn routinely sees Revision Rhinoplasty patients from all over Nassau County, Suffolk County, Long Island, and even from Manhattan. His boutique office is located in Smithtown, New York, making it a convenient destination for any Revision Rhinoplasty patients on the North Shore.

Revision Rhinoplasty Basics

What is Revision Rhinoplasty?

The reasons for considering revision rhinoplasty are many. Some patients are dissatisfied with the results obtained by another plastic surgeon. Others may find that functional issues, like breathing problems, are not fully corrected after the first procedure. In very rare instances, complications could occur initially, and revision rhinoplasty may then be performed to address the effects of this event or to achieve the outcome that was originally intended. With Dr. Cohn’s experience, precision, and artistic eye, he can help you obtain the look and functionality you’re seeking.

Who are the best candidates for a Revision Rhinoplasty procedure?

To determine whether you are an ideal candidate for a Long Island Revision Rhinoplasty, there are a range of factors we look for and assess during an initial consultation. These can include:

  • General good health
  • A realistic outlook for your surgery
  • A non-smoker
  • A person without other serious medical issues could be impacted by this surgery
  • You are dissatisfied with the results from the original rhinoplasty
  • You experienced complications from the original rhinoplasty
  • Your initial complications have been exacerbated by the first rhinoplasty
  • Difficulty breathing which was not addressed in your first rhinoplasty procedure

To learn whether revision rhinoplasty is right for you, call our practice to schedule a consultation with Dr. Cohn, who can assess your concerns and determine if you are a good candidate.

What are the benefits of Revision Rhinoplasty?

There are a number of functional and aesthetic benefits to a Long Island Revision Rhinoplasty:

  • Correction of nasal deformities caused by medical complications.
  • Maximal nasal function, which is the most important benefit of this procedure. A botched nose job can severely impair function which must be addressed in a timely manner.
  • Lastly, improving your appearance which your previous surgery did not. Revision Rhinoplasty can help to create a more defined and contoured nose to suit your aesthetic goals.

There may be additional benefits to getting a revision rhinoplasty. Call our clinic today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Cohn to learn more.

First Steps

What’s the first step?

Once you decide a Revision Rhinoplasty in Long Island is needed, the first step is to book a consultation with Dr. Cohn. Our patient coordinators are ready to help you and get you started on your journey. He will take the time to assess your nasal structure, talk about your worries and concerns stemming from the first rhinoplasty, and alleviate any fears you may have.

Prior to your surgery, Dr Cohn will discuss your options and map out a plan for surgery that will benefit you and leave you happy with the results. This may involve taking photos. Before the day of your surgery, you may be advised to fast for a certain amount of time or avoid medications such as blood thinners.

What to expect on the day of Revision Rhinoplasty surgery

When you arrive at our clinic on the day of your surgery, we will get you comfortable and prep you for the procedure.  Dr. Cohn will explain the techniques he will use, and how he will specifically correct the issues from your previous rhinoplasty.

To begin, anesthesia will be administered to numb the treatment area and eliminate any possibility of feeling pain. Once the anesthesia has begun to work, Dr. Cohn will make the incision on specific and strategic areas of your nose. Most incisions are made inside the nose, but at times can be made on the outside depending on what Dr. Cohn needs to correct. From there, he will reshape the bone and cartilage of the nose. This is the most delicate aspect of the surgery as it impacts your ability to breathe and overall nasal function.

Closing the incision is the final step in a Revision Rhinoplasty. The surgery can take up to 3 hours, but this time frame will vary based on your individual case and what Dr. Cohn estimates will be needed to address your problems.

Revision Rhinoplasty recovery

After the surgery concludes, Dr. Cohn and his team will ensure you are well informed and prepared for the recovery phase. If you anticipate needing assistance, it’s advisable to arrange transportation to and from our clinic on the day of your surgery.

Patients ought to plan for a period of rest from work and regular activities, including sports, to prioritize healing and prevent additional damage to the nose. The swelling following a revision rhinoplasty procedure is typically minimal.

Revision Rhinoplasty Cost

How much does a Revision Rhinoplasty cost in Long Island, NY?

After determining the above factors, Dr. Cohn will put you in touch with our patient coordinator, who will let you know what your surgery will cost.
