Before your scheduled appointment, Dr. Cohn and his team will share information about how to prepare for surgery. This can include wearing loose clothing that does not restrict the neck or shoulders, avoiding blood thinners, and fasting for a certain amount of time if Dr. Cohn deems it necessary.
When you arrive at our inviting boutique clinic in Long Island, our friendly staff will get you settled while you are prepped for surgery. You must remove any jewelry from the face, ears and neck. Dr. Cohn will explain the techniques he will be using and mark out the incision sites.
Next, anesthesia will be given to minimize discomfort and any pain. This is the first step in any plastic surgery procedure.
As you become comfortably sedated, Dr. Cohn will begin by making the incisions in the areas specified during your consultation. The placement of incisions are determined by how much skin needs to be trimmed away and the degree of skin tightening you are looking for.
When choosing liposuction, Dr. Cohn will make a small incision behind each ear and under the chin. Specialized equipment suctions fat from the jaw line and beneath the chin. Liposuction has the ability to give you a more defined neck, however it cannot correct structural problems that impact your neck’s appearance.
For a traditional neck lift, the incision will begin near the sideburns and ears. This incision makes it possible to view the tissues that shape the neck. The skin then is put back over these tissues in a way that looks more pleasing.
A Deep plane neck lift involves an incision under the chin and one in front of the ear and along the hairline. These incisions let the surgeon work on the deep structural tissues of the neck and lower face. Excess skin also can be removed.
When the skin has been redraped and Dr. Cohn is satisfied with its placement, he will close the incisions and apply bandages to your face and neck area. As this completes your surgery, we will take you to a dedicated recovery area as you wake up from the anesthesia.
